A friend of mine does them but there is a pricepoint issue....pretty laborious and time consuming. She also said not to do it outdoors where the sun can get at it as it becomes a bit "soft". Don't know if that applies to heat indoors, though. Her finishes are beautiful. _________________ Linda Marsteller |

I have experience installing aurastone. It's not cheap, but is often cheaper than the real if you want something exotic like onyx or some kind of cool fantasy stone. I'm in Boston but have family from Houston so could stay with relatives if it made sense.
It yellows in the sun. I hadn't heard that it melts. It's pretty tough. Another issue is, it is not scratch proof, but it is extremely strong and durable and will not break like real stone.
You can pm me if you have further questions. |

Indoors will not be an issue, a honed surface will show very little surface scratches and outdoors with the epoxy will not make it soft, but actually so hard and brittle that it will crack off.
I can be reached for any tech questions via email info@fauxassured.com _________________ Mindy |

| I have to say that I love this product!! The color options are endless and creating "fantasy" finishes is a dream! Everything scratches so that really is a mute point. It's not cheap, but it looks like a million bucks! All my clients that have these tops installed get tons of compliments and are super pleased with the results. |

I love it, and yes it scratches, unless I put a top coat on it. I really like the top coat from Design Crete, but it only comes in matte, unless they have updated it. Goes on very easily.
There is so much you can do with it. It requires training and precision. I have seen some beautiful examples.
I know they say not for outside, but of course I have it outside. Used marine grade plywood, and a color combination that won't show the ambering.
There are other similar products that I haven't tested out, I like Aurastone and their colors are great. Also you can embed fabulous things like shell, strings, anything flat. |
