Hi everyone. In 14 years I have never run out of product during a job but this might be the exception. I want to tell you what I am using, what I have and what I can get easily and quickly and then I need suggestions.

I am doing a finish using one glaze made from fauxcreme and stain and seal and Fauxcolors. The other glaze is fauxcolor and fauxcreme.

It is the fauxcreme I am thinking I will run out of over the weekend. If I order today it won't be here until late Mon afternoon.

I have about 3/4 quart Fauxcreme left. I have about a quart of Wet Edge on the shelf. Do I have to mix the Wet Edge with paint or can I use it as a substitute for the fauxcreme? I can't remember.

I have FX Thinner (a lot) which I can cut the fauxcreme with to get it to go farther but I also need this stuff to stay open so I would also need to add so-slo. Have that (1 qt.)

Can I combine the Wet Edge with the Fauxcreme I have to make a new glaze base and then mix from there? Or will the adhesion be compromised?

I can also drive about 45 min and get Modern Masters glaze if I need to.

What does everyone think?

I should also add that I have access to the other glazes like HD, Lowes, Sherwin Williams, Ben Moore... they didn't cross my mind b/c I assume their open time leaves a lot to be desired.

FWIW, I called the folks at ProFaux and they said I should be fine cutting my Fauxcreme with Wet Edge 1:1 and using that as my new glaze mixture and then tinting from there.

Still interested in what others have to contribute. Thanks!

If we knew where you were located other than "East Coast" there may be Forum members within your vicinity who could give/sell you some of their product. Or they may get product quicker, so they could order it and meet you halfway if travel is reasonable.

Not being creative, just speaking fron experience.

Deb, do you think mixing Wet Edge and Faux Creme is a recipe for disaster, so to speak?

I am in SW Virginia.

Du'oh!! Too far. If I have my order in by 3 pm I can get stuff UPS ground by 10 am the next day. If you were closer (and it was before 3 pm) we could have done a . . . transaction. Legal of course. For future reference, can't you get product from Louisville the next day? I bet you might be in that loop.

Wet edge and faux creme, you're asking the wrong person. I never combined the two, never had a reason too. And I get wierd when it comes to combining different substrates and product lines. The German in me comes out and I need to follow rules and formulas or I hyperventilate. My husband is an entirely different story. He would tell you to go for it (might want to test out a tablespoon or two first). I shudder to think of the things he has combined - successfully at that.

I say do it, I don't suspect there will be an adhesion issue. My only concern might be something getting gummy or dry/cure time being affected. So do a test now, see how it grabs, see how it dries, then make decide if your going to mix the two or get the MM product.

Deb, you are always so helpful. Thanks for that.

No, I thought I would be in the overnight from KY loop but it is two days; just like from Vero Beach. And my UPS usually comes around 5/6 pm so it might as well be 3 days!

Like I said, the Profaux guy said he saw no issues and I triple checked with him that I could, in fact, NOT mix paint into the Wet Edge - the PLAIN Wet Edge - and he said he was 100% certain I did NOT have to mix paint into it - but I saw on M+ that you DO have to mix paint into it b/c it has no driers...

BUT - Fauxcreme does have driers (I think) and I am mixing S&S into it - which we all know dries very quickly - so I still think I'll be ok. I'll try a sample today and report back to anyone who is interested.

The only issue we could think of with the Wet Edge is maybe waiting a little longer before topcoating to assure that I don't reawaken the finish.
