Back working at this wonderful house again , I've taken a few pics , a sample of the wallpaper, cornice & ceiling pics included, gold leaf on the cornice again , the rossetes are very challenging trying to work out what bits to pic out with colour & what bits to gild .
The paper is a sort of greenish cream & gold colour , she has mentioned that she would possibly like purple to be included in the colour scheme, so a part complimentary colour scheme might work quite well.
Would love to here people's thoughts, and any ideas would be so very much appreciated, the Plasterwork on the ceiling will be grained like the previous ceiling !

....Well you asked....LOL
my thoughts are ... since the paper in this room is more subdued then the last one...I would do everything in lots of color...they could be washed out or bold depending on her taste.... I would reserve the purple for the grapes only ....as I think blue is a better compliment to gold and would do that on the flat parts , that are supposed to be behind the relief
the gold leaf I would put on the dental type carvings in the center and outside edges only

Brian great to be back at this wonderful house again , will try my best to give you a call tomorrow, been flat out the last few days!!
Linda thanks for your imput , my customer is very set on the deep purple ,
so I've atleast got to try a few things first to see if the colours are working , if not will be looking for other ideas
Below is a pic of a little section of cornice, the gold is from a spray can (not real gold leaf) the other colours of green compliment the paper the purple is LOUD , i feel that i need a bold colour in the middle section of the conice to show of the relief which they do want gilded , the top & bottom relief will aslo be gilded .
Any bright ideas would be so much appreciated , i know that so many of you on here are wonderful with colour , its still something that i find very challenging ..
Thankyou in advance
J.

| would a periwinkle type purple be acceptable to your client, or is this the color specified. My periwinkles (also know as vinca) are blooming now, and they are such a pretty shade of purplish blue.

...Jeremy.... its to bad she is so set on deep purple..... it sounds a little to garish for my taste ....but then the wallpaper from the last room was a bit over the top too, so gotta go with their wishes .... post sample pics
Anita's suggestion is lovely too

| .... I just looked closer at the last photo you posted.... is that the purple... it looks grayed down.... I would use a clear true royal purple if your going to use the purple....

Love your sample and the purple is almost a blackened purple ... perhaps it's my monitor? Could you introduce another shade of purple to compliment and lend more interest perhaps. Her choice of wallpaper with classic colors indicates to me that she's seeking a conservative design with the unexpected wow factor in the details of ceiling.
Either way, I'm looking forward to following another, assured to be, great thread! You're so lucky to work in such lovely surroundings Jeremy.
... just don't forget your neck brace!

Thankyou Anita, Linda & Susan
This morning i popped into the paintshop to get a few colours to try out , unfortunitly I'm having problems with uploading the pics from my camera, below i have posted a colour chart & also a blue purple colour , i'm thinking that the colour chart might be useful also !
Once I've cracked the colours i can start to enjoy myself
Look forward to hearing your thoughts & ideas

Wow thanks so much for the contributions , I'm loving those pics aswell!!
I'm really struggling to be honest i have been trying colours (Blue purple, royal purple ) today & it just seems so loud against the paper , I'm also trying to come up with a colour that i can do the centre part of the cornice with to keep in harmony with what other colour is used against the Gilded areas. the centre part will have the heavy bits of reief gilded also ..

Can you "grey out" the colors a bit?
Unless this room is for Barbie, it may be really bizarre. You're not doing this for the Duchess of Castro, by any chance?

My customers where at the house today ,with samples of fabric material , the purple leans more towards red & as red-purple and yellow-green
are complimentary colours , it definitely is a way forward , its a deep red purple but with the same intensity of green its seems to be working really well , still having problems uploading pics , but i really appreciate everyones imput , will hopefully soon get some pics posted ..!!

Some of my favorite colors together Jeremy....eggplant purple can be so elegant and with the gold, I always feel the green family is what pulls it altogether... Is the green you are showing in your last picture pretty accurate? I love the picture Lisa posted with all these colors and a splash of royal blue... I'm sure what you end up with will be fantastic.

Thanks Sue
Hi mladyjoy , yes the green in the last pic is prety accurate !!
The other shade in the fabric is a sort of brownish grey , i mixed up something very close, but on the cornice it looks positively grey , not brown , so still playing with this untill it looks right !
