It is such neat furniture.

I would lightly sand. Clear coat with polyurethane (oil based clear coat). Let dry well. Brush on a mixture of Liquin and artist oil (about 60% Liquin and 40% Winton artist oil - maybe vandye brown and burnt umber). Wipe back off in direction of grain with cheesecloth leaving a slight residue in the cracks. Let dry a couple of days. Topcoat again.

This will give a fresh but seasoned look to the wood... like wood that is really old but has been beautifully maintained.

I use this technique a lot with always a good result.

P.S. Used cheesecloth is highly flammable. Put in bucket of water immediately after use.

Which of these is the Liquin I should use, they are suplied by Windsor and Newton here in the UK.

I see they have slow and fast drying oils. what should I use?

Liquin Original
Liquin Fine Detail Medium
Liquin Light Gel Medium
Liquin Oleopasto
Liquin Impasto

That MCM look is very popular here in Austin. NOT changing the color is an option to maintain close to the original teak finish.

But it might look very nice, if not original, in a darker tone. Lynne did a very interesting limed ebony look that might be an authentic period look.

Just a nicely applied brown black might be very elegant too.

Bedroom furniture is an important part of the general design you bring into your bedroom. Bedroom furniture is a crucial thing for any bedroom. If the furniture is not right then it takes away comfort and style from your favorite room. Choose the bedroom furniture that goes well with decor.

Love the clean lines of this furniture set Brian.

What other colors are in your bedroom? Drapes, carpet, bedspread, wall color, etc.?

Decorating bedroom is very good idea. It can be decorated by various furniture and different colors. Painting the bed and choosing right color for it makes very much difference of bedroom atmosphere.

A wide range of bedroom furniture sets in a variety of styles, materials and colors to meet individual needs. However, it is important to choose one that is comfortable and fits in the bedroom, without overcrowding, with heavy furniture and decorations.

Rebeca thanks for the direction and suggestions, but i have decided to keep the furniture as it is , has memories and comfort in my mind . some things i realise i dont want to change, a personal room and to my satisfaction now.

My cup of tea, not a design to most. but to me ideal and comforting.

Oh-em-gee!

Brian, I don't know about Liquin, but I would go with the 'original' for a big job like this one. Love your furniture! Vandyke brown is a little darker and cooler than burnt umber which is towards redish tone. your choice Wink

I am in LOVE with the headboard!!!! Well, the whole set is totally cool, but the bed especially. I need something like that. Glad you are leaving it as is. I would have a hard time deciding what to do with it myself, although I am too bored to leave things unpainted for long.

the 'right' design is always what you love! ... well, if it's affordable Smile

Memories is a good reason to keep things the way they are, it's like my skinny Christmas tree we purchased 22 years ago and I thought I'd replace it by now numerous times but alas, it still stands every year ... it's seen too much now to get rid of it!

Looking forward to your updated photos. Think tripod Brian, it helps one's focus Smile.

Proper furniture and upholstery are what turns a house into a home. Good quality furniture like these needs to be properly maintained to sustain that look. And I am really loving that headboard!

Thanks all for useful replays on bedroom furniture ideas. I also collected some bedroom furniture ideas form reading blogs and forums. I like to decorate my bedroom with white furniture. Because white is a color of peace. It is good for eyes. It makes bedroom wider fresh and clean.
