Always in the Lyon Court historical building... (see here also)

This is two "twin" audience rooms. The ceiling of the first one needed a touch up "only" Rolling Eyes and is now finished (you can see the ceiling canvas restored too, pics 1 & 2). The second one was very damaged and we made it all new (prep+graining). We have been working with oils. Two people, 6 days approx.

Walls are painted marble - we only filled up the damaged areas too.

There's a walnut cornice all around the room also.

Nice work Marie with great detail, its a pity the photo from ground level dosnt show the detail & uniformityof the oak as I'm sure the detail can be seen looking up from that position & that would make it a great pic for your portfolio. Ive taken similar pics from ground level to capture & show the detail of the whole ceiling or most of it but the detail dosnt show even though it can be seen clearly standing there looking up.

Thank you all for your comments. It was fun to do, even if a lot of work indeed!

S.W.Ralph: the 2 first ics are from the other "twin" room. The oak is not as detailed as ours Very Happy but is "historical" and we almost didn't touch it. The new one is impossible to take on pics now, because of the scaffholding in place till end of december... I will post pics then of course!

When I see this kind of restoration, I think about the people in the next hundred years, who will marvel at the work and wonder how they did it back when people still knew how to do that kind of craftsmanship.

I hope there is someone then to do what you are doing now.
