|
|
My brother, Ryan, who is my favorite painter (of course) just completed an oak graining job. He told me he had 70 of these panels to match. Spent about a half an hour per panel in terms of figure and side grain (even though quick, this is still 35 hours, obviously), but he matched the grain and color variation to real panels of oak.
This job is in Malibu, California on the beach! When he got bored, he just took his board and went surfing! Sweet!
Here is his Facebook page for his painting, but I'll attach the photo to this post as well, in case you cannot access it, for whatever reason. BTW, you should check out the rest of his photos on his Facebook page...quite incredible. Thanks!

BTW, the left side panels are painted, and the right side are the panels of real oak.

Very Nice and very fast done, half an hour is really good for a panel like that. But it's a lot to do 70 panels, I'm sure he went for a lot of surfing.
It will for sure get boring after 10, - He's probably a surf pro now??
But on the other hand when you got so many panels of the same, you refine your techniques so in the end it goes so very fast. That's the good thing with that kind of "repeating" jobs
