|
|
This set of photos is of something I am horsing around with...I was driving in Atlanta a few weeks ago and a truck passed me with a horse scene in the back window. I think it was the motion of the horses that caught my eye. I printed 20-25 horses on paper and cut the out. I have been playing with them trying to find a fluid scene in motion. After I figure it out I will re-size them and cut them out in Masonite. I figure it will end up 3.5ft x 7ft. As I get further along I will post photos. I figure I will finish this sometime in February. Hope y'all don't mind me doing a progress post as I think it helps me to document and receive comments while I work through a project

I am not sure if you are trying for a random image or a moving image. The horses running toward you in the first picture combined with the second image shows movement to me. Looks like another interesting piece. I am looking forward to seeing your progress!

Like Patty I liked the first , admire your vision, imagination and talent. So much to learn from this in your sharing of the documentation.

It has snowed knee deep to a tall Indian here in the mountains today. Thought I would update this horse thingy. I have cut out the wood for 9 of the 20 something horses from earlier in this post and it looks like I will do 4 separate works in this series. I was at a yard sale over the summer and found this big gaudy gold frame for $150 and decided to use it for this first one. I built a background for it and applied the first coat of metallic plaster and did the first coat on the horses in venetian plaster

I did the 2nd coat on the background and attached it to the frame and then nailed the horses temporarily to the artwork.....This is the first time I have been able to hang it on the wall and step back and look at it......I have some serious book reading to do concerning horse anatomy before I get this right. I am happy with where the metallic plaster background is going....anyways....I love drawing outside of the lines and like how the horses are coming out of the painting. I will try and finish this in the next day or so and post it then

I have found and cut out 4 large horses I like and am thinking of doing a "4 Horses of The Apocalypse" I want children to see 4 pretty horses but adults to know EXACTLY what the painting is about. I am not sure which will be the White, Red, Black, and Pale horses but I am sure that done right this could be a cool artwork. I am busy studying the many interpretations of the meaning of each individual horse and will post the progress as it unfolds itself....These horses are between 36" and 40" each and the painting will end up 7ft wide...I applied the first coat of plaster on the black horse and have a second one of the same to try using it as the pale horse also....dont know which will be what at this point.....just horsing around with the idea

Am sure you will do the subject justice its looking good Q .
From Wilkipedia. an interesting read. :-
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are described in the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, called the Book of Revelation of Saint John the Evangelist at 6:1-8. The chapter tells of a scroll in God's right hand that is sealed with seven seals. Jesus Christ opens the first four of the seven seals, which summons forth the four beasts that ride on white, red, black, and pale horses which each symbolize Conquest, War, Famine, and Death, respectively.[1] The Christian apocalyptic vision is that the four horsemen are to set a divine apocalypse upon the world as harbingers of the Last Judgment
