Thanks everyone. For the lettering I did do it by hand. It was fun to do something more graphic, but at the same time it was difficult to stay so precise.

so...I just found out that the agency is using the compass rose on their promo material...what should I do? Anything? Im flattered, but wondering if I should have been asked...

Well, I'm late joining this discussion, but I think your mural is fantastic. I wouldn't change a thing. The crisp lines are refreshing.
My own tendency is to 'age' everything I do.
In this case I think it would ruin the bright effect you've created. It's far from 'blah': there's the lovely half-tone shapes surrounding the map itself, which add dimension.
